Tour to Senfi School (off the beaten path) * February 4, 2004
About 30km south of Kumasi is the village of Senfi, the location of Scott Trade Institute, a small non-profit vocational school for young adults founded by your host Charity.
In 1999, Charity returned to Ghana for good, and with funds raised in the isolated native community of Mistissini in Northern Quebec, Canada, she established SCOTT TRADE INSTITUTE. The school has managed to survive through the hard work and dedication of its founder, supported by the community, teachers and generous individuals.
Then in 2003, the school received a much needed boost in the form of a monetary grant for equipment and materials from THE CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AGENCY (C.I.D.A.) under its Canada Fund for Local Initiative Program.
Should you be interested in seeing this small project in operation, Charity would be proud to show you this little seen side of Ghana. A morning trip to the school is an experience you won't forget.
Four Villages Inn is happy to provide its 10 seater air-conditioned Toyota vehicle FREE OF CHARGE provided a donation of no less $30.00 (or cedi equivalent) is made to the school. Every little bit helps to keep the school alive. Your name will be added to our mailing list to keep you informed about life at the school in future.
Four Villages Inn Room Rate Increase * December 27, 2003
The various rises in petrol prices over the past year in Ghana have had a ripple effect felt throughout all sectors of our economy - with increased transport fees severely affecting the cost of goods. At Four Villages Inn, unfortunately we must raise the price of our rooms marginally to keep in step with the times. Our new rates are $60.00 US for a single and $65.00 US for a double. The price for an extra bed in the room is $10.00 US per night. These rates include the VAT 12.5% tax, and of course, the world famous Four Villages Inn breakfast with our homemade sausages and REAL coffee!
A New Name for Four Villages Inn? * November 29, 2003
Fulbright scholar, Dr. Anna Bailey, who came to FVI upon the recommendation of the American Embassy in Accra, suggested we change the word Inn to OASIS. Dr. Bailey and her family stayed four nights at FVI while she was carrying out historical research. They then left for the north and returned to spend one last night at FVI before proceding on to Accra where they have lived for the past year.
Here's what she wrote in our guest book:
"We could not have had a better time anywhere else in Kumasi. We are coming back!"
Appreciation Worth Repeating! *November 26, 2003
