Favourable Review in Bradt Newsletter! *
August 1, 2004
|
| Four
Villages, which we found through friends, and you referenced in your update,
is everything you mentioned and more! The owners are gracious and informative,
yet not pushy in the least. They did offer to hook us up with someone to
go to the Kumasi market - which in hindsight we should have accepted since
it is so large and overwhelming, that we would probably would have found
what we wanted easier - given that we had only limited time. (Jennifer,

Ghana - An Alternative to the Ivory Coast
* June 26, 2004
|
| With
the Ivory Coast still in crisis, many tourists in the landlocked former
French West African countries are now vacationing by the sea in GHANA.
Kumasi provides an excellent stopping off place on their journey to the
beach. Here's what Mme Sari Suomalairen, E.U. Ambassador to Burkina Faso
and neighbouring countries wrote in our guestbook after a recent stay with
her family:
"Thank you from all of us.
We needed the relaxed atmosphere."

New Bradt Travel Guide to Ghana is Hot off
the Press * June 15, 2004
|
| Yes,
the 3rd edition of this book solely devoted to this wonderful country is
now available, and FOUR VILLAGES INN is in it! Here's what author Philip
Briggs who we had the pleasure of hosting for two days wrote: |
 |
| "Unless you actively favour the aura
of bland impersonality that characterizes most of the other hotels in this
range, the award winning FOUR VILLAGES INN is undoubtedly the most alluring
and individualistic upmarket hostelry in Kumasi. Situated on the Old Bekwai
Road, 2.8 km past the Ahodwo Circle, the inn is owned and operated by a
helpful Ghanaian-Canadian couple and it consists of just four spacious,self-contained
double rooms with air-con, mini bar, DVD and VCR as well as a common lounge
and dining room, and a shady patio overlooking the compact gardens. Facilities
include multi-channel TV, a great selection of free DVDs and videos to
choose from, complimentary tea and coffee, free airport and STC pick-up
by prior arrangement and home-cooked meals. The rates are US$60/65 single-double
which includes a substantial breakfast." |

|
| It's
fair to say that 80% of guests at FOUR VILLAGES INN are returnees and Mr.
Martin Mireku is no exception. Here what he wrote in the guest book: "STANDARDS
STILL THE BEST. PLEASE KEEP IT UP." |

U.N. Brass Visits Kumasi for Adae Kese Festival
* May 14, 2004
|
 |
UN resident
coordinator and UNDP resident representative, Alfred Sallia Fawundu returned
to Four Villages Inn with his wife Ruth to spend an exciting weekend witnessing
the Adae Kese Festival, a grand celebration of His Majesty, Otumfo Osei
Tutu II, the king of the Ashanti people. Here's what he wrote in our Guest
Book: |
In Kumasi and Ashanti land, tradition
reigns supreme, eternally and it blends with modern aspirations of individualism
embedded in entrepreneurship. FOUR VILLAGES INN eloquently symbolizes
that blend. This is home for any visitor who wants to relax and reflect
on the historic splendor of the Ashanti kingdom. |

Four Villages Inn - We Didn't Know Either!
* May 9, 2004
|
A few
weeks ago, the second richest man in the world, Warren Buffet declared
his support for Senator John Kerry in the upcoming presidential election
in the USA. So what's the connection to Four Villages Inn? Well, though
Mr. Buffet hasn't stayed at Four Villages, his wife Susan and son Howard
have! Here's what they wrote in our Guest Book:
Susan Buffet: "Wonderful"
~ Howard Buffet" "Great visit - Better food !!!"
Incidentally,
at the time, Four Villages had no idea who these people were. And we think
they liked it that way! |

Whoops! - New Price for the Market Tour
* May 7, 2004
|
Due to
inflation, we've had to raise the price of our Kumasi Market tour to keep
in step with the times. Still a Bargain!
This Walking Tour takes about three
hours. Wear running shoes (sandles are not recommended), and don't forget
to put on a hat. A money belt is preferable to keeping money in your pockets
... leaving Four Villages early means you can beat the traffic, have more
liklihood of finding a parking spot, and you will avoid the midday heat!
Comfort is a member of the staff at Four Villages Inn - which gladly releases
her from her duties. The entire tour amount, that you pay directly to Comfort,
helps to support her and her only child - eight year-old Amanda. Tour price:
¢30,000. |

Visit the Tano Sacred Grove *
May 6, 2004
|
 |
We'd
like to remind you that Four Villages Inn offers tours in the Kumasi area
and further afield. If you plan a visit, why not let us take you to Brong
Ahafo to see the Boabeng Fiema Monkey Sanctuary adn have a picnic at the
Tano Sacred Grove. Like your host, (Chris Scott pictured here) you can
climb the ricks to keep in shape. Special Thanks for this photo goes to
Gord Evans who was a recent guest. Gord wrote in our Guest Book: "The
[tourism] award as the best Guest House is well deserved. Life here seems
part of, rather than (like most hotels) apart from Ghana." |
