African Voices and the Atlantic Slave Trade * December 28, 2005
Beyond the Silence and the Shame
by Anne C. Bailey

We are proud to add this title to our collection of African non-fiction. Fulbright scholar Anne Bailey stayed at Four Villages Inn when she was doing some of her research in 2003. She mentions your hosts Charity and Chris Scott in the ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS section of her book.  This book represents the first history of the African slave trade culled from the memories of those African left behind. The book was published by Beacon Press, Boston in 2005.

Your Host Chris Gets Around Ghana * December 19, 2005
Your host, Chris, has been on the road of late leaving the guest house in the capable hands of son Frank and trusted employee, Sandra. Chris travelled to Keta on the east coast of Ghana in his capacity of Ashanti Regional Secretary to attend the 4th National Executive Council Meeting of the Ghana Hotels Association. Then he was off cross-country to join a Ghana Tourist Board organized tour of the Western Region assisting Ashanti Regional Manager Ben Anane Nsiah in leading fledgling tour operators from Kumasi.
Should you be travelling along the east coast of Ghana headed towards the Ghana/Togo border, Lorneh Lodge and Beach Resort is THE place to stay. Contact: 0966-42160, 020-8116748. If you don't get through, just go; they have 41 rooms available now and 20 more in the finishing stages.

And, of course, in the Western Region, make a beeline to African Rainbow Resort at Busua Beach.

First West African Rotary Project Fair * December 14, 2005
Recently, your host, Chris, a Rotarian, represented his Kumasi East Rotary Club at the La Palm Royal Hotel in Accra October 13-15. This pioneering event saw clubs from Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast and of course, Ghana - exhibit projects to rotary partners from the US and Europe. Chris staffed the Kumasi East booth, seeking support for two hospital projects, a prison project and two training school projects, including host Charity's own non-profit school, the Scott Trade Institute.
Carnets d’Afrique (Notebook of Africa) * November 28, 2005
10,000 km across the skies of Africa … Such is the title of our latest elephant-coffee-table book found in our spacious living room. This bilingual book (French and English) captures the beauty of West Africa from the air.

The pictures were taken from two ULM that made a remarkable flight over eight West African countries, including Ghana. This project was solely sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of West Africa (9100), which your hosts at Four Villages Inn belong to.

Ghana Documentary on Discovery Channel * November 8, 2005
Planning your trip to Ghana? Or would you like to revisit old memories of your fabulous experiences in Ghana? Such a project was done on Uganda a few years ago and visits to that country from the US jumped an incredible 30%. As primary resources are fast being depleted, tourism is being promoted as the major vehicle for development ... thus the President of GHANA proudly shows off the rich potential of this intriguing nation.
