Governor General of Canada Visits Ghana
* November 28, 2006
|
 |
| In mid
October, Four Villages Inn received a phone call from the Canadian High
Commission in Accra informing us the Governor General of Canada Her Excellency
the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean would be visiting Ghana and there was
the possibility that she may visit Kumasi and that Four Villages Inn had
been selected as her place of lodging! |
 |
| Well,
as it turned out, her Excellency did not visit Kumasi. Much though we were
disappointed, we were indeed honoured to have been selected to host the
ceremonial head of state of Canada. Such is the confidence that the Canadian
High Commission has placed in Four Villages Inn over the years based on
our reliable, quality service we have provided to its travelling diplomats. |

Swiss Ambassador at Four Villages Inn *
November
24, 2006
|
| Once
again Four Villages Inn had the pleasure of hosting yet another senior
member of Ghana's diplomatic corps, His Excellency Mr. George Zubler,
the Swiss ambassador to Ghana. He came to Kumasi on holiday with his wife
and friends to spend three relaxing days away from the hectic pace of life
in Accra. Here's what he wrote in our guest book: "Warm hospitality,
delicious food, tasteful rooms-a true home away from home." |

“Geldof in Africa” DVD and Tons More DVDs
… * November 18, 2006
|
 |
| Four
Villages Inn already has the wonderful book Geldof in Africa. Now we have
added the BBC four part DVD documentary series hosted by Geldof, a passionate,
articulate campaigner for the African continent. |
| Furthermore,
we have just added hundreds of DVDs – too many to list here. Among the
most recent additions are Mission Impossible III and The DaVinci Code. |
|
 |
And for
our francophone patrons, we have a wonderful French Canadian comedy entitled
La Grande Séduction set in a small isolated fishing community on
Quebec's barren Lower North Shore. In fact, the film was shot in Harrington
Harbour where your hosts lived for almost two years thirty years ago after
emigrating back to Canada with their two children. |

Four Villages Inn in Lonely Planet ~ West
Africa * November 16, 2006
|
 |
| Yes,
we are in the hot off the press new Lonely Planet on West Africa published
in October 2006. Here's what it says: |
 |
| "Top End: Four Villages Inn:
Several kilometres south of the centre is this bed and breakfast, equally
popular for its four comfortable, individually designed rooms with high
ceilings and homey decor, as for the guide and transport services offered.
Throw in a garden, a terrace, an indoor atrium, and breakfast with real
brewed coffee and you'll feel like family." |
 |
| By strange
coincidence, the photograph of the Nigerian Court Musician from Kano, Nigeria
on the cover of the new guide was taken by none other than Bob Burch -
the same person who does the maintenance on this website and updates the

Four Villages Inn Hosts Edwards Party! *
November
11, 2006
|
| Early
in November,2006, Four Villages Inn played host to the Edwards party of
four adults and four children who are on a ten month round the world
odyssey by private jet! Tony Edwards stars on the long-running TV drama
“ER”. It's the ultimate field trip for the kids, who besides experiencing
the world first hand are also receiving formal instruction from their teacher
Molly Cleator. |
|
| Kumasi
and Four Villages Inn was their only stop in Ghana. How did they make their
decision you might ask? |
|
 |
Molly was
a past guest in 2005 when she travelled from the U.S. to visit her sister
who was then living in Nigeria. She was so impressed with FOUR VILLAGES
INN that she decided that Kumasi and Four Villages Inn would be their one
and only destination in Ghana! |
 |
| And
we didn't let her down ... besides our regular market and villages tours,
we laid on a tie and dye workshop at Scott Trade Institute and an adinkra
clothe workshop at the inn. The children also got to interact with Amanda,
a 12 year old Ghanaian child, who told them all about her life growing
up in a third world country. Amanda also took the kids to her school.
A wonderful Ghanaian feast, which the kids helped prepare and the two pilots
also enjoyed, capped off the five-day visit. |
|
|
|
On their
departure Tony Edwards donated US$1000.00 to Scott Trade Institute and
Molly and her sister, now in Korea, donated US$400.00. A huge Thank You
goes out to them across the miles. |
| Here's
what Tony Edwards wrote in the guest book, "Love Love … We will be back!” |
